I think Riverwolf says it best.

Well, say my Wiccan friends, at least Dan (AKA Brother Phoenix East Horse) in this clip from He's Just Not That Into You seems "normal"and sweet, if annoying. (1) For my money, that bit is snarky, and not nearly as funny as this "news" piece from the Onion.

Here is a review of the movie from Rolling Stone.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain burned a witch yesterday outside his campaign headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, in a gesture some political analysts believe was intended to dispel accusations by rivals that the political veteran may possess dangerously moderate tendencies.

The witch, a suburban mother of two who was found not only to have been a subscriber to The Nation magazine but who also enjoyed listening to Melissa Etheridge, was unavailable for comment....

Area Pagan Dreading Big Family Vernal Equinox Celebration:

Despite evidence that the planets are aligned in his favor, local pagan Jeff Birch, 27, said Monday that he would "rather have a peaceful weekend at home" than attend his family's Vernal Equinox celebration on March 21.

"I realize it's supposed to be a festive time of conception and new growth in the womb of Mother Earth and all," Birch said. "But I just know that within an hour of arriving, things will get so bad that I'll be reverting to my 12-year-old self, hiding in the rec room downstairs, wearing my Iroquois false face mask and fingering my runes for comfort. It's not worth it."

.....Birch said he dreads the "inevitable" questions about his love life most. "My folks can't wrap their heads around the idea that a man in his late twenties isn't handfasted yet and is okay with it," Birch said. "There's always some new Church of the Sacred Pentacle virgin or a cute single witch from the last Full Moon ritual who they just have to set me up with."

The Birches try to have a "nice, sacrificial meal."

Lucy Daughter Of The Devil

I love this show. It's so dry and subversive. The voices are perfect and the visuals are unique. You get the point of view (and often feel sympathy for) all of the characters. How can you not like Satan, who wears a Cosby sweater, tries (in his own way) to be a good Dad, and is much sweeter than anyone I've ever seen in the Bush Administration.

One of my favorite characters is Becky, the Devil's Advocate, and this Jesus is one I'd like to meet. Best of all, it takes place in San Francisco, one of my very favorite cities. Personally, I think the Antichrist would live somewhere else, SF being so laid back, accepting and all. Wouldn't an evil mission be better received elsewhere? But let's not quibble. It's a great little show. My witches' hat is off to the creators, who make us laugh in hard times.

It's very dark and very funny - check it out.

Lovely.

Check out a Live Journal post by Yvonne Aburrow a while back titled Things We'd Like To See. I quite agree. Yes, indeed. That would be most helpful. Add a dragon that attacks spam (I want rending! I want fire!) and I'm in.

For those of you who don't know her, she is the author of several books on myth, magic, animals and trees.

Speaking of Wizards:

Rincewind, one of my favorite Wizzards (and you know he's a Wizzard cause it says so on his hat) is about to appear on film. Terry Pratchett's book The Color of Magic will be brought to the screen by Sky One. Their rendition of Hogfather got good reviews, so we hope that this production will be as good. (They are throwing more money at this production, but we all know what that did to Pirates II and III. (1) Alas, this presentation of The Color of Magic, like Hogfather before it, will only appear on British TV. American fans will have to watch the DVD's.

David Jason will appear as Rincewind. Most of the actors appearing in these productions are, naturally, from the UK, however; it is rumored that Steve Carrell might play the character of Twoflower, a hapless tourist.

Mr. Carroll is best known for his work on television in The Daily Show and The Office, as well as for his movie roles in The Forty Year Old Virgin and Little Miss Sunshine. At this point, the rumor is unconfirmed and may well be little more than wishful thinking on the part of U.S. fans. Personally, while I love Steve Carrell (in particular, I admire his darkly funny and very sensitive portrayal of the suicidally depressed Proust scholar in Little Miss Sunshine), I would prefer to see an Asian actor playing a part of an Chinese character.
