Nature Girls

When I saw this video, it made me laugh. It also made me want to hug every early "tree-hugging" ecologist, and (almost) every Old Guard feminist and Pagan person I know. They are the ones who had to deal with being trivialized, marginalized and mocked back in the day.

It's no wonder some of our younger folks take their privileges for granted. They have no idea what it was like back then. Doesn't that very fact mean we did our jobs pretty darn well? Isn't sparing them our struggles what all our work was about? Let them enjoy what they have. They have their own fights ahead of them. (1) When I look at back, I have faith. When I look forward I have faith. It's the here and now that scares me.

With thanks to all who were there when we needed them, and with love for the ones who come after...

Endnotes:

(1) Let us also teach them a little of their own history, lest we forget and slide backwards.
